Taishan nuclear power station is the largest cooperation project between China and France in the field of energy. Taishan nuclear power joint venture Co., Ltd., jointly invested and established by China Guangdong Nuclear Power Group, France electric power group and Guangdong Electric Power Group, is responsible for the construction and operation.Taishan nuclear power unit 1 started construction in 2009 and put into commercial operation on December 13, 2018. It is the first EPR nuclear power unit put into commercial operation in the world. The construction of unit 2 started in 2010, started to load on April 12, 2019, and successfully connected to the grid for power generation on June 23. On September 7, 2019, the world's second EPR (third generation nuclear reactor) unit was put into commercial operation.
